Jesus our intercessor

Recently at grace class we've been talking about Jesus our perfect and great High Priest.

How so vitality important it is for us as new testament believers to understand Jesus office - his ever continuing ministry in heaven.

We know Jesus as our Lord and saviour.

However, it is equally important that we understand our representation in the throne room of heaven.

In defining the person of Jesus and his ministry in scripture, especially in the book of Hebrews, we find, - Jesus our advocate, our surety, our perfect high priest, our mediator, guarantor of a better covenant, the author and finisher of our salvation, the perfect sacrifice. Jesus continues to pour of himself for our triumph in this life and for our salvation.

Unlike the priests of old, scripture says that Jesus became a priest on oath, God said to him;

“The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.” - Hebrews 7:2

Jesus our intercessor

The word intercessor means – to come between, to represent, Jesus is both our advocate and our intercessor, he pleads our case for us, as a lawyer would.

Often times when we face challenges in life, we may call on others to pray for us and be praying too but we may not always remember that Jesus is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.

Hebrews 7:25 reads, Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them."

Jesus lives to always intervene on our behalf with God!
