The Light of Life.

When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he withdrew to Galilee.

Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:

“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,

the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,

Galilee of the Gentiles—

the people living in darkness

have seen a great light;

on those living in the land of the shadow of death

a light has dawned.” - (Matthew 4:12-17, Isaiah 9:1,2)

Jesus is the light of the world. (John 8:12)

And He has sent us out as lights in the world. (Matthew 5:14)

Our world is in desperate need of this light. We need the light of Jesus.

Something about this light is that - It’s a light that distinguishes.

John says that "He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now." (1 John 2:9)

There is no place for darkness in the light, there is no place for pretence.

If claim to know Jesus but hate, segregate, discriminate, others John says - that kind of fruit is evidence that we are not walking in the light.

We are called to walk in the light as children of the Light. What does it mean to walk in the light?
